PMHS orchestra, band finish winter concert season Dec. 17 and 20 with performances (includes slideshow)

The Pelham Memorial High School orchestra and band concluded the winter concert season with outstanding performances on Dec. 17 and 20.

On Dec. 17, the orchestra, directed by Dr. Michele Zanky, started off with the Rolling Stones’ classic “Paint It Black,” followed by “Deep River” and then “Concerto in g minor, RV 531” featuring Matyas Spunberg & Matthew Giarrizzo on Violoncello. The orchestra then played “La Rejouissance,” “Winds of Winter” from Game of Thrones, and accompanied soprano vocalist Athena Woodfin in “Quando me’n vo” from La Boheme. The final three songs were “Nocturne,” “Statues” from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 and “Fiddle Like the Dickens.”

On Dec. 20, the jazz band started the concert with “April in Paris,” followed by renditions of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” featuring vocalist Alyssa-Lynn Catalanotto. They concluded with “What is Hip.” The concert band then took the stage, performing “Into the Clouds,” a “Chanukah Medley” arranged by Director Andrew Van Bochove, “Joy in All Things,” and “Sleigh Ride.”
