Village of Pelham police blotter: Jan. 6-12

Jan. 6

7:45 a.m. – An officer was advised of a white van in the area of Seventh Avenue and Third Avenue that was obstructing the view of traffic. Officer was dispatched and advised of a van in the area, but it was legally parked and nothing seemed out of order.

9:20 a.m. – Received a call of an activated alarm at Pelham Memorial High School of 575 Colonial Avenue. An officer spoke to a custodian, who asked for police to investigate the alarm. Officers entered the school and advised that all was in order. A custodian was dispatched to address the alarm.

5:12 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a Wolfs Lane business for recovered property. The officer spoke with the party who called, who advised that a patron came into his store and gave him a wallet that was found out front. The officer checked the wallet and could not find identification, only a debit card with a name. Additional attempts to make contact were unsuccessful. The wallet was kept for safekeeping.

6:38 p.m. – Officers responded to an aided case. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who appeared to be suffering from a stroke. The victim was provided medical attention by paramedics and the Pelham Fire Department. The victim was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital via ambulance.

Jan. 7

4:45 a.m. – An officer on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle bearing an out-of-state license plate parked in front of a Nyac Avenue residence, with one male occupant sleeping inside. The officer checked the man’s information, which revealed he had a valid driver’s license in New York State. He was sent on his way.

6:03 a.m. – Two officers responded to a Pelhamdale residence on report of a suspicious black Cadillac, whose occupant had rung the doorbell of the residence. While canvassing the area, the officers located the vehicle at the intersection of Pelhamdale Avenue and Second Street. They checked the license plate and the driver’s information and confirmed that both were valid in New York State. Party was a taxi driver and accidentally went to the wrong address. He was sent on his way.

11:16 a.m. – A resident walked into the police station in regards to a complaint about a double-parked vehicle. An officer was dispatched, and the vehicle was gone upon arrival.

Jan. 8

12:45 a.m. – An officer observed a Christmas tree curbside in front of a Fifth Avenue address. This was a village violation, as it was placed before 7 a.m. of the next collection date of January 10. A ticket was completed and a photo taken.

1:19 a.m. – An officer was on patrol on Third Avenue when a party waved down the officer and stated her boyfriend would not get out of the car. Both parties stated they had a verbal argument over whether or not she would drive him home. Both parties’ information was checked, and it was revealed that the male party was wanted by Suffern Police aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was detained and brought to the police station. The officer was also advised that the female party was wanted by Stony Point Police for the same offense. The officer returned to the location and detained the female party. Both Stony Point Police and Suffern Police were contacted, and both stated they would not be able to pick up their respective parties. Both parties were released; the female party returned to her home, and the male party was advised not to return to the incident location.

4:08 a.m. – An officer on patrol observed a male party inside Pelville Pastry of 300 Fifth Avenue, which was closed. The officer spoke with the party, who was the co-owner of the business and stated he was opening up the shop for the day.

12:16 p.m. – A resident of Ancon Avenue came into the police station to report larceny of a package. On December 26, 2018, she was advised via email by USPS that her package was delivered. When she returned home, the package was not there. After asking neighbors and posting on Facebook, she went to the Post Office and was advised that they did not have the package and she should file a police report. Incident was referred to detectives.

12:48 p.m. – Received a call of a dispute at the Mobil gas station of 30 Lincoln Avenue. Officers were dispatched and advised it was minor and over the air pump. The parties involved were sent on their way.

4:54 p.m. – A resident of Carol Avenue called, wishing to report a suspicious incident of his car door being open, and believed that someone attempted to enter the vehicle the previous night. An officer was dispatched to speak with the man. The officer advised no report at that time, as the vehicle was left unlocked and the man wished no further police action. No items were taken from the vehicle.

Jan. 9

6:35 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a residence on report of an aided case of a 78-year-old female not feeling well. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, who stated she had flu-like symptoms and wished to be transported to the hospital. She was transported by ambulance to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.

Jan. 10

4:17 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a residence for a welfare check. An anonymous person had called, stating that he was playing video games online with a party, and that said party was making concerning comments about harming himself. The officer and a detective responded to speak with the party and his mother. After speaking with both individuals it was determined that the party was okay at that time and was not going to harm himself. The mother also believed that her child was okay at that time and was not capable of harming himself. Both were advised to call the Pelham Police Department if any further assistance was needed.

10:02 p.m. – Officers, a paramedic unit, and an ambulance were detailed to a residence on report of chest pain. Upon arrival, the victim stated that he had been feeling pressure on his chest, left arm, and the left side of his jaw for several hours. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Jan. 11

3:50 a.m – An officer was advised of a suspicious vehicle on Wolfs Lane. Information checks revealed the vehicle and its two occupants to have a valid vehicle and negative results for wants or warrants. Parties advised that they were tired and did not wish to drive. They were sent on their way via Blue Bird taxi.

9:27 a.m. – A motorist reported a down wire on Harmon Avenue. An officer was detailed and advised to call Con Edison regarding a down guide wire. An officer at the police station contacted Con Edison and was advised someone will be en route.

Jan. 12

3:11 a.m. – An officer on patrol observed a vehicle parked on Seventh Street. While issuing an overnight parking violation, the officer was informed of a Scofflaw violation. The vehicle had three open tickets totaling $600. The vehicle was booted, a warning sticker applied, and an overnight parking violation issued.

4:43 a.m. – A resident of Seventh Avenue reported a noise complaint. He stated his neighbors upstairs were dropping items on the floor, causing a disturbance. Officers were dispatched and advised the condition was unfounded.

7:55 a.m. – A resident of Maple Avenue reported a water issue in her home, possibly frozen pipes. The Pelham Fire Department was dispatched to provide assistance.
