EcoPel Event: Reusable Bags to Help the Environment With presenters Lindsay Preftakes  and Sydney McInnis

Leaders of  Pelham’s EcoPel organization, which advocates for ways to improve the environment, will speak at TMC on Thursday, April 4th at 7:30pm. Their main topic will be reusable bag legislation efforts.

DeCicco & Sons already has stopped using plastic carry out bags and offers a small credit for customers who present reusable bags for their purchased items.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is pushing for a statewide ban on single-use plastic shopping bags. Over the years, similar efforts have failed in the Legislature.

The ban is based on research that shows plastic bags have polluted landfills and waterways in significant ways.
