17 year old Kate Douglass competed in the 2019 Atlanta Classic held at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia on May 17-19.

Previously, Douglas made the cut for the 100 m breaststroke but with her stellar performance at the 2019 Atlanta Classic, she added three more trial cuts.

Douglass had a successful weekend setting personal bests in five out of her six events. Her biggest drops were the 100 back and 100 fly where she took more than a full second off of her personal best times for both events.

On Friday, Douglas had her first victory after winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.63. Next, she went on to win the 200 individual medley, with a time of 2:13.55, another personal best. She also came in second place in the 50 free.

Her times in the 50 free, 200 IM and 100 fly move Douglass into the top 10 rankings in the 17-18 age group. At an early age she became one of the youngest qualifiers ever for an Olympic Trials, qualifying in the 200 breaststroke.

At the Atlanta Classic, Douglas successfully made three Olympic trial cuts adding to her original breaststroke cut.
