Foto Feature: Hutch site prep well underway; rock blasting begins Friday

Preparation of the site for the new Hutchinson School began quickly after the ground breaking, with the ball field now reduced to graded dirt and a large pile of soil left close to the fence near the street. Fences were put up to separate the work area from the existing school, while large pieces of construction equipment are parked at the site ready to work.

The Pelham School District said rock blasting will start Friday, with explosions “multiple times per day.” The district’s full statement on the blasting follows:

As you are likely aware, initial site preparation work on the Hutchinson School property has begun in earnest.
Rock blasting is planned to begin this Friday, June 28. Blasting is expected to occur multiple times per day throughout the summer. Standard protocol for these blasts includes a siren sequence beginning 10 minutes before the blast to warn those on the property and in the surrounding neighborhood before and after a blast occurs. The specific timing of blasts will vary on a day-to-day basis.
Please remember that any construction-related issues or concerns should be directed to the District’s construction manager, Triton Construction, by calling 914-222-0883 or sending an email to Pelhamprojectinfo@tritonconstruction.net.
