No. 1 New York Times bestselling book “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly chosen for 2019 Pelham Reads! Events to be held the week of October 5th-13th 2019

Held every other year, Pelham Reads! is a community-wide celebration of stories told through literature, art, and film. It’s sponsored by the Town of Pelham Public Library, Friends of the Town of Pelham Public Library, the Picture House, and Pelham Art Center. This year, Pelham residents will read, discuss, and be inspired by Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly.

“Hidden Figures” is the phenomenal true story of the black female mathematicians at NASA whose calculations helped fuel some of America’s greatest achievements in space. There is a young reader’s edition of Hidden Figures aimed at readers aged 8-12 and a picture book edition aimed at readers aged 3 to 8. Community members of all ages can get in on the Space Race reading fun! The book is also included on select school summer reading lists.

Held the week of October 5th through 13th, Pelham Reads! will include multiple free events including a screening of the blockbuster 2016 film “Hidden Figures” at The Pelham Picture House, a STEAM-themed event, and more. Save the date and be sure to add Hidden Figures to your summer reading lists.
