Jean M. Andrews – June 17

JEAN M. ANDREWS (nee McCune), passed away on June 17, 2019; born June 12, 1921 in Amsterdam, NY. She was the only child of James Alexander McCune and Clara Huebner McCune. Jean attended St. Ann’s Episcopal Church where she met her future husband, Edwin Albert Andrews, Jr. She received her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Rochester, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Russell Sage College. Jean married Edwin Jr. in 1944 and had two children, Joan Carol and Edwin Albert III “Ted”. In addition to teaching at Truax Elementary School in Amsterdam, NY, Jean was a published greeting card author. After her husband’s death in 1980, Jean moved to Pelham, NY to be near her daughter and family and continue teaching at Prospect Hill Elementary School in Pelham Manor until her retirement in 1994. Upon retirement, Jean moved to Westlake, OH to be near her son and family, enjoying her friends and extended family in her 25 years of retirement. She belonged to a Bridge Club, the Lunch Bunch, taught Sunday School, and in her 80’s attended a weeklong writers camp and wrote a short children’s storybook entitled “Barnabas the Bluebird and the Snowflake Fairy”. She is survived by her daughter Joan A. Condon (Dave), her son Edwin A. Andrews III (Bruce C. Holloway), her grandson Gregory David Socrates (Julia) and her great-granddaughters Lily Jean and Eva Marie. She is also survived by her nephew Thomas J. Kennedy (Penny), her niece Margaret K. Thompson (Gary) and their children. Friends may call on the family at THE HOLICK CRACIUN FUNERAL HOME, 23040 CENTER RIDGE RD., WESTLAKE, MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2019 FROM 4-8 P.M. Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH, on Tuesday, June 25 at 1 p.m., with a reception immediately following the service.
