The beautiful little island that offers big fun: Bermuda

BERMUDA— Bermuda is a beautiful island with lots of beaches, churches and shops to keep you entertained for an entire vacation. The island has three main regions: Hamilton, St. George and Royal Naval Dockyard.

Bermuda offered four different options to get around: minibus, bus, taxi and ferry. Ferry or bus was usually the cheapest, followed by minibus and then taxi.

The weather was usually sunny with blue skies during my visit. During the summer, it is around 75 degrees to 90 degrees. During the fall, it is 70 degrees to 80 degrees.

Though Bermuda is a small island, it has many hotels. Some of the top-rated hotels are Elbow Beach Resort, The Fairmont Southampton, Hamilton Princess and Beach Club and the Loren at Pink Beach.

Bermudian cuisine is a mix of British, Caribbean, African, Native American and Portuguese food. Some classic specialties are fish chowder, rockfish, a codfish breakfast on Sundays, yellowfin tuna and the most famous dessert: rum cake.

There are many activities in Bermuda, on the water, in nature and indoors. Here is my top five list of the best activities in Bermuda.

5. Crystal Caves

Crystal Caves is a historic, interactive underground cave that is truly spectacular. Located in Hamilton, this beautiful cave is a must see if you are looking for an interesting walking tour.

4. Snorkel tours

Snorkel tours are a fun activity the whole family can participate in. You can see many different fish, sea creatures and coral while snorkeling. Places like Tobacco Bay and Snorkel Beach are perfect for this excursion.

3. Catamaran tours

Catamarans are an amazing, fun, full-day activity. The boat sails out to the middle of a bay and you can relax in the sun, look at Bermuda’s famous pink homes and swim.

2. Bermuda golf

This may come as a surprise, but Bermuda has extremely beautiful golf courses. Get views of the ocean while playing a little golf with your friends.

1. Biking and hiking

Bermuda has some of the world’s best walking and biking trails. The Bermuda Railway Trail is a highly recommended spot to go biking and hiking as there is a lookout that is worth the trip up.

(Bonus!) Shopping

If you go on a cruise to Bermuda, chances are you won’t be able bo buy very authentic Bermudan souvenirs. Jewelry, gems and art are the most authentic souvenirs you can purchase. Shop for these items at the Clocktower Mall located in Royal Naval Dockyard.
