Spectacular London offers high tea and high fantasy (and real history)

London is a spectacular place to visit with your family, offering history, royalty, high tea and fantasy.

A tour with City Wonders is a perfect way to learn about the history and landscape of the city. The tour begins at the Tower of London, where one can see the crown jewels and armor worn by many English noblemen. The tour then proceeds to the Changing of the Guard ceremonies in front of majestic Buckingham palace and on Whitehall. Last, the tour continues through beautiful St James’s Park.

London also offers an amazing opportunity to learn about  World War II history and the life of Winston Churchill. Climb down a flight of stairs to immerse yourself in the World War II prime minister’s life in the Churchill War Rooms. This museum shows the map room where Churchill planned his strategy for combat and the tiny rooms that he and his staff slept in. Craving some sunlight after being underground, head over to the London Eye, Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel, which is on the Thames River. A ride on the Eye provides a pretty view of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament .

For those interested in London’s famous families and all things royal, trips to Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace are a must. At Kensington Palace, one can wander through the royals’ apartments, which are decorated as they were in the 1800s. Queen Victoria’s apartment has games and dolls kids played with back then. An actress dressed as Queen Victoria shared what the monarch’s daily life was like behind the palace walls.

There are many fun family-friendly things to do in the city. Magical Tours of London offers a Harry Potter tour, which takes visitors to the places used in the movies for Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley and the Ministry of Magic as well as the very real King’s Cross railway station, where one can take a picture at platform 9 3/4.
