Pelham Parents and community members are invited to attend a Cultural Proficiency Overview at 7 pm on Monday, October 7 in the Pelham Middle School library. This event, presented by Brenda and Franklin CampbellJones of CampbellJones & Associates, will offer an overview of training that is being provided to faculty and staff as part of the District’s new Strategic Plan.

Attendees will learn about the essential elements of the Cultural Competence framework. In addition to the overview, participants will also experience activities that are included in the Cultural Proficiency training.

“The CampbellJones training is eye-opening and critically important to the work that we have undertaken as a District,” said Dr. Cheryl Champ, Superintendent of Schools. “We are thrilled to be able to offer our parents a glimpse into the framework that will help us cultivate a more empathetic, inclusive and culturally responsive school community that values and encourages respect, voice and agency for all students.”

CampbellJones & Associates has been working with the District to provide training to representative groups of faculty, staff, parents, and students over the past year. A second cohort will receive training this year with the goal of introducing all staff to the framework over time.
