Former Pelham trustee says Democrats Curtin, Burke will bring fresh views to town council

To the editor:

I support Maura Curtin and Kristen Burke for Pelham Town Council and hope you will join me in voting for them on Nov. 5.

I learned from my three terms on the Village of Pelham Board of Trustees the type of people who deliver meaningful change and constructive oversight. Maura and Kristen are those people.

Both are actively engaged in our community and have long track records of getting things done. Maura currently works for State Sen. Biaggi while Kristen recently completed a term as president of the Colonial School PTA. Both roles demonstrate others’ trust in their effectiveness.

Maura and Kristen would bring a fresh view of how to improve communication to residents regarding town services, budget, policies and more. Both have managed budgets and people.

The council would also benefit from Kristin’s legal experience. She currently serves as general counsel for Mercy College and was a Rackets Bureau prosecutor in the Bronx District Attorney’s office for many years.

Finally, while we may wish that local elections weren’t partisan, for some reason—let’s call it habit—the town positions in Pelham have almost universally been held by members of one party. Maura and Kristen offer a great opportunity for Manor and Village residents to vote the candidate, not the party.
