The Pelham Pelicans at the Polar Plunge 2018

Hundreds of New Yorkers will participate in the 11th annual Polar Plunge on Saturday to help raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics New York.

The event will take place at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. More than 800 family members, friends, teammates and coworkers will fearlessly jump into the freezing waters of the Long Island Sound.

Over hundreds of participants and donors contribute to this amazing organization. The plunge helps raise money for the Special Olympics, which has 68,547 athletes training and competing year-round in 22 Olympics-style sports. It costs $400 to support training and competition for one athlete for one sports season. By raising $400, you have sponsored an athlete for an entire season.

This will be my fourth Polar Plunge and I am beyond excited to plunge into the chilly Long Island Sound.

So far, the Pelham Pelicans has raised $3,470 and hope to raise more with your help. As of now, $137,693 has been raised collectively for the Special Olympics. According to the Westchester Polar Plunge website, it has raised 90% of their goal.

It looks like it will be a high of 39 degrees fahrenheit, dipping down to as low as 28 degrees, with the potential for some snow too! The Pelham Pelicans  would greatly appreciate if you could contribute and help out this great cause.
