(White Plains, NY) – Motorists are advised that the Bronx River Parkway northbound ramp (Exit 11W) to the Cross County Parkway westbound in Yonkers will be closed for three nights starting Wednesday, November 13 and continuing evenings through Friday, November 15 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This closure is necessary to perform bridge rehabilitation work as part of an $18 million project to rehabilitate the Bronx River Parkway and two bridges, from the Cross County Parkway to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers and Mount Vernon.

The work to be performed will consist of a new concrete bridge deck and modifications of the structural steel to improve the existing clearance from 10’10” to 14’0”, so any trucks that mistakenly enter the parkway will no longer strike this bridge.

Additional work to be performed under this project includes work on the Midland Avenue Bridge to replace a Con Edison gas main, replacement of the deteriorated center pier, bridge abutment and joint replacement repairs.

The paving portion of this project on the Bronx River parkway is scheduled to be done next year and will consist of paving and guide rail replacement from the Cross County Parkway to Scarsdale Road.  The overall project is scheduled for completion in early 2021.

Variable message signs are being used to alert motorists of the upcoming closure. For additional information, contact the Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation at (914) 995-2555.
