Pelham Music Festival opens musician registration on Monday

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Music Festival.

On Monday, November 11th, aspiring young musicians can register to participate in the 2020 Pelham Music Festival, which will take place on January 25, 2020, at the Pelham Country Club. Registration is online at www.PelhamMusicFestival.org; you can also email [email protected] if you have any questions. The Festival is open to any school-age Pelham instrumentalists, vocalists, soloists and ensembles, playing any style of music including original compositions. It is a unique opportunity for young musicians to perform in front of family, friends, and community, in a supportive and nurturing environment. Watching and celebrating your friends’ performances is another reason people return to the Festival year after year.

The Festival began in 2003, founded by Bob and Lauren Eicher, and has grown to well over 100 performers in 2019. Last year’s Festival featured a wide range of instruments, including violins, cellos, flutes, saxophones and xylophones, and, for the first time, a guzheng, a Chinese zither, dating back to the Qin dynasty. Traditionally, the Festival welcomes ensembles from elementary through high school, with a rousing finale performance by the PMHS jazz band. 2019 also made Festival history with the debut of the AcaPelicans, a student-run a capella group from PMHS.

Please visit the FAQ page at www.PelhamMusicFestival.org, for more details and to donate and/or register. Registration fees only cover a portion of expenses. Each year, the Festival makes an effort to provide scholarship to students wishing to participate for whom the fee is an obstacle. Additionally, there are opportunities to participate in performances at local nursing homes and health care facilities. Pelham Music Festival looks forward to sharing another year of outstanding music with the community.
