Virginia Pesce – Jan. 22

Vincenza “Virginia” Pesce of Pelham NY passed away on Wednesday January 22nd 2020. She was 94 years old. The daughter of Italian immigrant’s Virginia was born and raised in Manhattan where she attended local schools. Upon graduating high school Virginia started her own flower shop and was also a ballroom dance instructor. Her passion for dance made for many joyful times and many great memories with her husband Leonardo.

Virginia and Leonardo would meet in 1951. It was love at first sight. They would marry in 1952 in the Bronx and move to Pelham in 1954 where they would raise a family. Their marriage was described as the most beautiful relationship ever witnessed. Virginia was a stay at home mom, a wonderful homemaker and a great cook. Every Sunday was a family reunion where she loved to cook and make sure everyone felt at home. She will be remembered for her stuffed onions and her loving nature. You always felt loved when you were in Virginia’s presence. In her spare time Virginia would play cards. She took Gin and Polker serious.

Virgina is survived by her children Thomas (Ileana) Pesce, James (Elizabeth) Pesce and Leonard (Laurie) Pesce: step daughter Donna (Lindsey) Bates. She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren and everyone she knew. She is predeceased by her husband Leonardo and her first born who was also called Leonardo.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY on Sunday January 26th from 3-7 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 575 Fowler Avenue in Pelham Manor NY on Monday January 27th at 10:15 AM.
