Pelham Together is excited to announce the launch of a new campaign: Disconnect to Reconnect.
This community-wide initiative will encourage adults, teens and kids to power off our
technology, and to share face to face time with family and friends. Disconnect to Reconnect
aims to raise awareness of the short term and long term effects that chronic use of technology has
on our personal connections and to inspire self-regulation and healthy balance.

The kick-off event of the campaign is a screening of the film, Like, on October 18, 2018 at 7 P.M.,
at The Picture House Regional Film Center. This documentary, by the same team that brought
us Screenagers and Angst investigates the power of social media, the concept of self-regulation,
and airs in depth interviews of teenagers. Following the screening, a panel of experts and teens
will discuss the film and answer questions from the audience.

Pelham restaurants will join Pelham Together for the second phase of the campaign, promoting
eating together without technology at the table. During the Pelham Chamber of Commerce’s bi-
annual Restaurant Week, beginning on October 24, diners who stash phones, computers and
tablets during dinner, will be offered a treat by participating restaurants. Pelham Together also
encourages those eating at home to put away our devices during dinner. To help grow
connections at meal time, residents can access from our website cards with conversation starters
and the rules to fun, family games to play at home or when dining at local restaurants.

For more information about the effects of technology on our personal connections, ironically,
please check out the articles posted on the Pelham Together website over the next several weeks.

Pelham Together is committed to ensuring a healthy and vibrant community for and with the
youth of Pelham. For more information or ways to get involved, please visit www.pelhamtogether.org.
