Manuela Bourbeau – Dec. 24

Manuela Bourbeau of Pelham, New York, died peacefully on Dec. 24, 2018, with her family by her side. Born Nov. 28, 1948, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Carmelita Sierra.

Manuela will always be defined by those who truly knew her for her love of reading and determination to teach those to read. From mystery books to science fiction, she was happiest at home entrenched in a good read or listening to James Taylor or Bob Dylan. A professed homebody who enjoyed her home filled with family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Peter; her children, Jason Fontanez and his wife, Vanessa; Mark Bourbeau; Lelah Suchite and her husband, Melvin, and Daniel Bourbeau. Grandchildren Melina and David Suchite. Dear sister of Marquita, Gloria, Antonia, Lydia and the late Juan.

A celebration of Manuela’s life will take place on Thursday, Dec. 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pelham Funeral Home at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, New York, 10803. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Second Ave., Pelham. Committal will be at Ferncliff Crematory.
