January 3, 2019 – Pelham, NY – On Thursday, January 24th at 7:30 p.m. The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) will host an advance screening of Then Came You followed by a Q&A with the director Peter Hutchings. The movie opens to limited release on Friday, February 1st.

Then Came You is a sweet, uplifting tale that reminds us it’s not how long we live, but how we live the life we have, that matters. The film tells the story of Skye (Maisie Williams), a spunky teenager with a terminal illness who befriends Calvin (Asa Butterfield), a 19-year old hypochondriac who is afraid of his own shadow. Calvin helps Skye carry out her eccentric bucket list of things to do before she dies. In the process, he learns to confront and conquer his own fears, including falling in love with the beautiful, but seemingly untouchable, Izzy.

After the film, TPH critic-in-residence Marshall Fine will moderate a discussion and Q&A with the director Peter Hutchings. Hutchings is a New York-based filmmaker—Then Came You is his third feature. Previously, he directed the high school comedy The Outcasts, as well as Rhymes with Banana, which premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival in 2012. As a screenwriter, Hutchings has adapted several novels including Sophie Kinsella’s bestseller Can You Keep a Secret. Hutchings also adapted Becca Fitzpatrick’s megahit Hush, Hush, with production on the first film in the franchise set for this fall. In addition, he adapted Vanessa Diffenbaugh’s The Language of Flowers which spent 70 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. Tony-winner Michael Mayer will direct his screenplay in 2019, with Kiersey Clemons starring.

Tickets to the advance screening and discussion are $15/general admission, $12/students, seniors, and members and are available at www.thepicturehouse.org or at the box office, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham, NY 10803.
