The January 28, 2019 – Pelham, NY – The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) will be offering an interactive film camp, Fresh Eyes on Film: Kids Critique the Movies, during the February break from school, Tuesday, February 19th through Friday, February 22nd for students in grades K-5.

In this collaborative camp, students will watch a different classic kid’s movie each day, learn how to analyze and critique what they’ve seen, then share those thoughts on camera while working together in our Review Studio. Students will develop their self-esteem and confidence by expressing their opinions in a thoughtful and persuasive way, while also taking turns as directors and cinematographers behind the camera. Finished videos will be a part of the annual red-carpet Student Showcase event at TPH.

 Fresh Eyes on Film camp will be taught by Kevin Maher, an Emmy-nominated writer and award-winning filmmaker, who has taught at the School of Visual Arts, ReelWorks Brooklyn and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Chad Newman, TPH’s Communications and Development Manager who received his MA in Film Studies at Columbia University.  All movies have been screened through Common Sense Media for age appropriateness, a list of specific movies is available upon request. The cost of the camp is $75 per day (Member discount available) and campers can register for one or multiple days.
