Town of Pelham offers warming center; Pelham Manor issues winter fire warnings
With the severe cold weather descending on the area, the Town of Pelham planned to make a warming center available, while the Village of Pelham Manor issued fire safety tips for cold weather. Their press releases follow.

The Town of Pelham will have a warming center on standby if you lose heat or electricity. Please call Pelham police headquarters to make arrangements at (914)738-2000.

The Pelham Manor Fire Department would like to remind residents about home fire safety tips during this next round of cold weather.
Winter Fire Safety Quick Tips
- Keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from heaters.
- Have a three-foot “kids free zone” around open fires and space heaters.
- Never use your oven to heat your home.
- Remember to turn portable heaters off when leaving the room or going to bed.
- Plug any space heater directly into wall outlet and do not use extension cords.
- Make sure the fireplace has a sturdy screen to stop sparks from flying into the room.
- Make sure your fireplace flue is open when starting a fire in the fireplace.
