DOT abandons plans for 130-foot communications pole near high school/middle school complex

The New York State Department of Transportation and its contractor Crown Castle have abandoned plans to put up a 130-foot telecommunications mast on land west of the Pelham high school/middle school complex.

In a letter released by Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, Lawrence Dean of Crown Castle told the DOT “Crown is discontinuing development of the facility” at the Village of Pelham location.

The Town of Pelham, its two villages and its school district had opposed putting up the pole on land along the Hutchinson River Parkway at exit 9
