Big system to bring lots of rain to East Coast over holiday weekend

It’s not looking like a nice holiday weekend, pretty much anywhere along the East Coast. This is the two-day quantitative precipitation forecast, from the hydro folks at National Weather Service. Don’t take that as it’s all soaked, all the time. But this is a big system, and the outer bands of it will reach New York City this afternoon. Expect the rain to ramp up and down. Tornado risk stays south of Washington, D.C., or thereabouts. Could be plenty of severe weather south of our nation’s capital.
