Editor’s note: This press release was provided by Pelham Together.

On May 20th, Pelham welcomes Rosalind Wiseman to speak to the community about raising ethical young leaders in today’s world, as well as the ins-and-outs of teen dynamics.  Ms. Wiseman is a leading expert in the area of adolescent development and has written several New York Times bestselling books.  In particular, Queen Bees and Wannabes and Masterminds and Wingmen will be available for sale and signing at the event (book sales made possible by Bronx River Books).

In addition to addressing the community, Ms. Wiseman will be leading a program in the middle school focused on character education.  Pelham Middle School is in the process of a multi-year focus on character and civic education, working to improve school culture and civility, prevent anti-social behaviors, increase student well-being and achievement, and help students grow into responsible adults committed to justice, compassion, and respect.  Ms. Sabia, PMS Principal, sees this program as a critical step on the path to becoming a certified “School of Character.”  Ms. Wiseman will be working with PMS staff and teachers and a group of Student Ambassadors to support future character education initiatives in school.

Please put this exciting event on your calendars!  The event is FREE, thanks to a grant from the Pelham Education Foundation and will be held at TMC (The Manor Club).  Please let us know you’re coming by registering here.  If you’d like to buy a book at the event, please help us plan by telling us here.
