Pelham schools election: $74.9 million budget and 3 board seats on ballot as residents vote from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today in PMHS gym

Pelham residents are voting on a $74.9 million proposed Pelham School District budget and to fill three school board seats in balloting Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Pelham Memorial High School main gym at 575 Colonial Ave.

The spending plan will increase the tax levy by 3.17%, which complies with the state cap, according to a statement from the school district. The year-over-year budget increase is 1.74%. Details of what’s in the plan can be seen in the school-district supplied graphic above.

Four candidates are vying for three seats on the Board of Education with three-year terms. They are:

  • Leah Tahbaz
  • Vincent Mazzaro
  • Steve Shekane
  • John Brice

Free 15-minute parking will be available in the high school circular driveway and along Corlies Avenue.

“If you are an elementary parent, we especially hope you will come by with your children between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. for the annual Kids’ Vote,” said the statement. “There are some new and interesting choices this year.”
