The aroma of hot dogs and hamburgers was impossible to miss.  Coolers slammed shut. Children laughed. The annual Hutchinson barbecue was in full swing and everyone was having a good time.

Last Friday starting at  6 p.m., the 30-year-old Hutch tradition kicked off, organized this year by Josh Wallach, head of the dad’s club.

“The barbecue was great,” said Wallach. “We cooked 250 hot dogs and 222 hamburgers. Everyone comes, and everyone has a great time. The kids had a great time. And this being my last year being a Hutchinson dad, it was great.”

It was also the last barbecue on the Hutchinson Field because next year construction of the new Hutch will be underway.

“The barbecue was awesome,” said Isabella Henriquez.

At the barbecue, there was more than just food. People had chairs set up, while the kids ran around with their friends. There was a DJ playing music and people danced.
