ALBANY, NY – Yesterday State Senator Alessandra Biaggi met with TIME’S UP Activists for New York State Women’s Equality Agenda, Carmen LoBue, Leslie Ann Silva, Mira Sorvino, and Jen Klein, as well as Co-Founder of the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, Roberta A. Kaplan. The activists came to Albany to advocate for the passage of legislation that serves to protect workers across all sectors from sexual harassment and discrimination, including Senator Biaggi’s bill S3817A to eliminate the “severe or pervasive” standard for sexual harassment.

State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx/Westchester), issued the following statement:

“I am grateful to the women of TIME’S UP for giving space to survivors across the country, and advocating to pass my bill that will hold New York’s employers accountable for creating a harassment-free workplace. I also want to acknowledge TIME’S UP member Mira Sorvino for speaking truth to power, and bravely sharing her survivor story with the legislature. To keep New Yorkers safe from all forms of workplace sexual harassment and discrimination, we must eliminate the “severe or pervasive” standard once and for all.”
