Foto Feature: Hutchinson alumni reunion draws large turnout from across decades
Hutchinson alumni reunited to walk the halls of their alma mater elementary school Thursday before construction on the new school begins. Alumni who graduated as recently as the past few years and those that left the school as far back as 1954 gathered to reminisce in the gymnasium, the field and their old classrooms about their times at Hutch.
Led by district superintendent Dr. Cheryl Champ, Hutchinson principal Trisha Fitzgerald and organizer Kim Scalisi (Hutchinson class of ’72), the alumni convened outside the back entrance of the school to sing Hutchinson spirit songs and take a group photo.
The event preceded the Hutchinson groundbreaking ceremony on Friday morning, which marks the commencement of construction of the new school.

Wished I could have joined everyone yesterday. However, the weather wasn’t cooperating.
Sad that our Elementary School couldn’t be saved as a historical landmark.
Started there in 1957 as a second generation student and the first of four siblings to follow.
Dad and his family were the first to go through. It was something when dad mentioned that our Principal, Ms. Donnelly, taught when he was a student.
Since then we had nieces and nephews attend and children of two nieces.
I hope there will be another event planned prior to demolition.
Lots of fond memories and many friends.
