Pelham Children’s Center (PCC) launched its 50th year with a host of new announcements and initiatives, including a successful Tiki Gala that raised nearly $10,000 to provide scholarships for eligible families and enrichment programs for the students. The annual event was held on Saturday, June 15th at New York Athletic Club.

The Center has also announced its new leadership team for the 2019-2020 school year. The past two years under Tracy Shekane’s guidance as Board President have seen significant changes and a renewed energy brought to the school by bringing on new Executive Director Steve Madey. The new Board will be led by Heather Malone as President, Ketrin Leka as Vice President, Mariette Morrissey as Secretary and Adam Ilkowitz as Treasurer.

“Tracy has set up the incoming Board Executives with a solid base to build upon,” said Malone. “We thank her for her tireless efforts.”

PCC will enter the school year with a rebranding of the Center and launch of a new website, pelhamchildrenscenter.org, designed by board member Cara Moore. The new website will highlight family-friendly community events hosted by the Center, including the upcoming Annual Pumpkin Festival and Book Sale on October 12th, to be followed by a new annual Santa event on November 30th.

“The children and our staff are the heart of our center, and we are bringing that to the forefront with a refreshed and dynamic online presence,” said Madey.

On June 17th the PCC Board held its annual end-of-year meeting and recognized the teachers for all their work throughout the year. Tyrone Moon received special recognition of his 5 years with PCC.

“A big thank you to the community and to our donors and corporate sponsors for their contributions and continued support of Pelham Children’s Center now and into the future,” said Malone. “We are excited to enter our 50th year of providing quality full-day childcare to the Pelham community.”
