Driver hits several vehicles on Second Avenue, front porch of house, rolls car, closing down part of street
A driver struck several other vehicles in the 400 block of Second Avenue on Friday, then smashed the front porch of a house before their car rolled over on its side, closing down the avenue between Sixth Street and Willow Avenue, according to a post on the Village of Pelham Police Department Facebook page.
The driver of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the post said.
An updated post said the street had been reopened.
A post on the Pelham Professional Firefighters Local 2213 Facebook page said the accident took place around 3:30 p.m. Friday. Engine 5, Ladder 2, Rescue 45 and Car 2351 responded from the department, while the Pelham Police Department and Empress EMS also were on the scene.
The injured driver was trapped in the vehicle, according to the post. Firefighters also saw structural damage to the house driven into.
An off-duty New Rochelle Fire Department member was providing care to the driver prior to the Pelham department arriving on the scene.
Once removed from the vehicle, the patient was transported by Empress EMS. Firefighters also stabilized the structural damage to the home, making it safe until contractors can fix it.
