Deadline for residents to apply for two vacant Pelham school board seats is this Friday

The deadline for residents to apply for two vacant Pelham Board of Education seats is this Friday, the board said in a letter to the community today.

The school board plans to fill the two seats by appointment following the resignation earlier this month by Dr. Christa Acampora and Tom Imperato, according to a statement from the Pelham School District.

The board is “is seeking interested candidates to fill the remaining one-year terms left on two open seats,” the statement said. “This process follows past practice and precedent when vacancies have occurred mid-term.”

The district provided the following details on applying:

“Interested applicants should complete this applicationĀ and return via email to Board of Education President Sue Bratone Childs ([email protected]) by 5 pm on Friday, August 3, 2018. Applications are also available on the District website (www.pelhamschools.org) under the ‘Board of Education’ tab.

This process follows past practice and precedent when vacancies have occurred mid-term. All applications will be screened and it is anticipated that candidates will be interviewed by members of the Board of Education in mid-August with the hope of appointing both seats by the end of August. The terms of both open seats are set to expire in 2019 and will be filled during the regular election cycle in May 2019, at which time three total seats will be up for election.”
