Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Junior League of Pelham.

The Junior League of Pelham is again asking for community support in its annual Love Pelham Fund Drive. All contributions of $20 or more will be recognized with a signature Love Pelham silver snowflake to display on the exterior of your home (you may have already noticed these adorning your neighbors’ front doors!).

Last year, the Love Pelham campaign raised close to $15,000. Those funds supported a wide range of projects in the local area including:

  • Delivering home-cooked meals and warm clothing to the homeless
  • Providing educational enrichment programs for children
  • Creating public art in and with the community
  • Recruiting volunteers at community events
  • Hosting career panels for high school students
  • Awarding grants to community programs focused on healthy families, education and neighborhood improvement

“The Junior League of Pelham strives to improve our community—and those around us—through a vast and diverse array of projects and programming,” said Lisa Horten, president of the JLP. “Every dollar raised during our annual fund drive goes directly back into making Pelham an even better place to live. We’re constantly assessing the needs of the community and doing all that we can to contribute in a meaningful way.”

In addition to a lineup of ongoing projects that includes a regular storytime at the Pelham Public Library, meal deliveries to the CSA in Mount Vernon, and educating preschoolers on STEAM topics, this year, the annual fund drive will also help support the league’s latest signature project: the revitalization of Julianne’s Park. The goal of this multi-year initiative is to preserve and upgrade the beloved park so that it can continue to be enjoyed by Pelham residents for years to come.

All donors to the Love Pelham Annual Fund Drive will receive a Junior League of Pelham snowflake designed to be hung outside the home. And for the second year in a row, local artist Katy Garry has designed a commemorative “Love Pelham” ornament for those who contribute $100 or more. It’s a great time to start your collection—if you missed out on last year’s ornament, you’ll receive both the 2018 and 2019 editions (plus the signature silver snowflake!) with your donation of $120.

Donations can be made at the Junior League of Pelham web site, https://www.jlpelham.org/lovepelham, or through Venmo (JL-Pelham). If using Venmo please put “Love Pelham’ in the notes.
