Pelham, March 3, 2020- Pelham Community Rowing Association, lower Westchester’s favorite rowing club dedicated to making rowing accessible to the community regardless of means, age or intent to compete, announces the grand opening of The Studio @ PCRA, a state-of-the-art Erg Studio to champion indoor rowing and fitness for the community, on March 21, 2020. The celebratory day will include both a ribbon cutting attended by Pelham Mayor Chance Mullen in addition to the annual Ergathon fundraiser, to raise funds for equipment, maintenance, need-based financial assistance for qualifying members, and operational costs for both Junior and Master rowers.

The first public year-round indoor rowing studio in southern Westchester, The Studio at PCRA offers 30 state-of-the-art Erg machines and 16 classes a week for fitness enthusiasts of all levels to instill an appreciation of rowing for its fitness benefits, while offering an opportunity to learn, row, and compete to the community. Additionally, the studio will operate as the official indoor training center for the over 150 members of the Pelham Community Rowing Association’s Youth and Masters teams. In addition to a ceremonial ribbon cutting, the studio will provide light refreshments for guests, raffles, and free class vouchers to all attendees, as well as informational sessions about the Associations full menu of programs and the physical benefits of rowing for all ages.

Following the ribbon cutting, PCRA will host their annual Ergathon to raise funds for operational costs of the upcoming season directly across the street in Wolfs Lane Park. This year’s fundraising goal of $65,000 will help to facilitate new equipment for both Youth and Masters as well as funding need-based scholarships for both kids and adults. Emceed by PCRA Youth Boys’ Head Coach Reid Johnson, members will compete with support and sponsorship from friends and relatives to achieve their goal, rowing for four hours and virtually traveling 42,195 meters. Donation stations will also be placed throughout the park for the public to participate and contribute towards the associations fundraising goal. In the event of inclement weather, the Ergathon will take place inside The Studio at PCRA.

THE SCHEDULE

The Studio @ PCRA Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held on March 21 at 89 Wolfs Lane at 9:00 a.m., with light refreshments to follow.

The Ergathon will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue through 2:00pm at Wolfs Lane Park, located at 100 Wolfs Lane in Pelham.
