Mary Angelina DeCicco – March 23

Mary Angelina DeCicco of Pelham Manor, New York, formerly of the Bronx, passed away on March 23rd, 2020. She was 95 years old. Mary was born in Manhattan to Joseph and Carmella Gentile. She was raised in Hell’s Kitchen and attended Central Needle and Trade High School. Upon graduation she would work for McGraw Publishing Company as a secretary.

Mary would meet her husband of 42 years to John DeCicco. The couple lived in the same neighborhood and would marry in 1952. They celebrated their wedding at the Concourse Plaza before heading to the Poconos for their honeymoon.

Mary and John would live in the Fordham section of the Bronx where they would raise their children. She was very active at Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Church and school. Mary finished her working career at Loehman’s as a cashier. She as very proud of her 26 year career. She would later move with her daughter Rosemary and family to Pelham Manor where she resided for the last 25 years.

In retirement, Mary belonged to the Pelham Seniors. She loved reading romance novels and stories of families. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary will be remembered as a devout catholic who was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was a loving mother and family was everything to her. She loved current events, was philosophical and very wise. She considered herself blessed to be surrounded by her wonderful family. She had a strong bond with the oldest grandchild all the way down to the youngest great grand-child.

Mary is survived by her children Rosemary (Chris) Pignone, Joseph (Monica) DeCicco, Theresa (Dan) Perruzza. She will be missed by her eight grandchildren Christopher (Michelle) Pignone, Daniella (Jimmy) Immediato, Theresa (Michael) Bunyan, Andrea (Anthony) Fratto, Matthew (Emma) DeCicco, Ricky (Emma) DeCicco, Sara DeCicco, Tonimarie Perruzza, She will be missed by her eight great grandchildren.

A private celebration of Mary’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue in Pelham NY. Mary will be buried at St. Raymonds Cemetery. For more information or to leave a condolence please visit pelhamfuneral.com.
