Pelham Manor update: Fairway store, liquor shop to be acquired; call-in budget hearing set for April 27
Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor.
The Village’s number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 57, according to the Westchester County portal. As a reminder, there is a delay between when New York State receives testing data and when the State forwards that data to the County. Additionally, many people on the list have been cleared by healthcare professionals to discontinue quarantine measures.
Effective at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.
Yesterday, Village officials participated in a call with County representatives and U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to discuss the CARES Act, which was recently approved by Congress. Senator Schumer also highlighted upcoming Coronavirus stimulus programs under consideration.
The Police Department continues its meaningful personal outreach to senior citizens and residents with compromised immune systems during this public health emergency.
Please note that the U.S. Census Bureau has extended the window for field data collection and self-response to October 31, 2020. More information is available here:

Pending approval by the bankruptcy court, Village Super Market, Inc. will acquire and operate five Fairway locations, including the Fairway Market and the Fairway Wines & Spirits in Pelham Manor. Our information is that the stores in Pelham Manor will operate under the Fairway name. We are hopeful that there will be a seamless transition, with no interruption in service for customers.
The Village Board has adjourned and will hold open the hearing on the tentative 2020-2021 budget. We will arrange a call in feature for the April 27, 2020 meeting so that residents may participate in this hearing orally. Also, our latest information from NYS is that Village elections will be held on June 16, 2020.
As always, if you experience COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), please call the Coronavirus Hotline at 1-888-364-3065 to speak with a representative and determine whether you should be tested at the Glen Island facility in New Rochelle. Walk-ins are not accepted. Please do not visit a doctor’s office or an emergency room without calling ahead first.
Please continue to adhere to the Governor’s order directing New Yorkers to maintain a distance of six feet from others in public. It is imperative for each of us to practice social distancing in order to stop the spread of this virus. Also, please continue to follow the hygiene and safety guidance from the CDC and the NYS and Westchester County Departments of Health to protect yourself and the community.
