The Pelham List: Make mom smile and help local businesses

Some local businesses are offering Mother’s Day specials so that Pelhamites can support them and also get a gift for their mothers.

On Mother’s Day, the one thing shoppers can do right now is try to spend their money locally, rather than with big online businesses like Amazon. Currently, local businesses are trying to be as creative as possible.

“Our local businesses are going through a very difficult time right now,” said Cristina Chianese of the Junior League of Pelham. “This situation is forcing people to reach out, and that has changed businesses completely. Owners right now are trying to be very creative to try to stay open. During this difficult time, we are really learning what community means to us.”

“Now, Pelham Cares is doing its best to get the word out about what businesses are open,” said Chianese. “We have done this by making the Pelham List directory. Pelham Cares is working directly with local businesses to promote and market them. Isolation could crush so many businesses, so Pelham Cares is putting information on social media and other online sources. We help businesses make money, in a way that’s safest for everyone.”

Pelham Cares is a collaborative effort of the Junior League, the Pelham Civic Association, the Pelham Chamber of Commerce and Pelham Together.

The Pelham List website has been up since isolation started as a list of businesses open in Pelham. But, only a few weeks ago the list was updated with hours, promotions and collaborations businesses had going. Mother’s Day is also one of the newest updates.

By using this list, running ads and putting information out on social media, business owners have said that there has been a significant change in sales for them.
