‘Wizard of Oz,’ originally postponed, cancelled by SOOP Theatre

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by SOOP Theatre Company.

After much thought and consideration, SOOP has decided to officially cancel it’s Spring/2020 production of THE WIZARD OF OZ.  The production, originally scheduled for mid- March at the Iona College Murphy Auditorium and then pushed back to late May in the same venue, decided to make it official since there is no discernible date for public theatre gatherings in sight.  “It is heart-breaking”, said SOOP Artistic Director Paul Romanello, “these kids worked so hard and came so close – we really wanted to find a way to make it happen!”  SOOP considered the possibility of an online concert event, but logistics became difficult. Romanello said “We are certainly disappointed, but we are looking ahead and will be announcing our summer online programs very soon, so stay tuned!”  SOOP is located at 530 Fifth Avenue in the Village of Pelham.
