Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor.

On Memorial Day, the Veterans from Pelham Post 50, along with the Town Supervisor and the Mayors from both Villages, attended a small, socially distanced ceremony in honor of those who gave their lives for this country. Longtime Pelham resident Richie “Bell” Altobelli was honored as Grand Marshall. The video of this ceremony is available on FiOS Channel 42 and the Town of Pelham Facebook page.

The Mid-Husdon Region, including Westchester County, has entered Phase I for reopening under the Governor’s plan. Please see further information here:

All businesses must file an affirmation with New York State as part of this process. Please see the industry guidance and related documents here: https://forward.ny.gov/.

Pelham Manor has made notable progress with respect to COVID-19. At present, there are no active, confirmed cases, according to the Westchester County portal. Please continue to follow the Governor’s orders with respect to social distancing and face coverings so that we do not experience a setback. Gatherings of more than 10 people are still prohibited. Lawful gatherings of 10 or fewer people are allowed, provided that social distancing and disinfection protocols are adhered to.

Shore Front Park will open to dogs on leashes on June 1. The park will be fully operational on July 1, with dogs permitted off of leashes from dawn until 9:00 a.m.

We have received a number of reports of coyotes in the area. Please do not leave animals or small children unattended after dark. Some coyotes may appear during the day, as this is breeding season. Please engage a licensed wildlife trapper to address problems with the coyote population, and please call the police front desk at 738-1000 if any animal appears unwell or is aggressive.

The Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, June 1, at 8:15 p.m. In accordance with Governor Cuomo’s State of Emergency Order and its subsequent guidance, the public will not be permitted to attend. As required by the Order and guidance, the meeting will be live streamed on FiOS Channel 46 and recorded. Because the public will be excluded from this meeting, anyone who requests it will be provided with a copy of the meeting recording. A link to the meeting video will also be available Tuesday morning on the Village website.

The Mayor, Board members and staff will be observing the Village’s protocols with regard to social distancing and sanitizing surfaces before, during and after the meeting.

Stay well, and stay in touch!
