Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Union Free School District.

We are writing to provide clarity as to the status of school-owned recreational facilities and their availability for use by residents. At this time, several of our outdoor facilities are now being used by the Town Recreation Department for their summer programs. Town recreation is also scheduling and overseeing use of the tennis courts at the Glover Complex and Julianne’s Playground, which residents may use by reservation only.

Additionally, when not in use by the Rec Department, the Glover Complex, Prospect Hill Field, and the Siwanoy blacktop area may be used by the public for passive recreation, provided that physical distancing is practiced at all times. When accessing Glover, we recommend using the lot closest to Target off of E. Sandford Blvd. and use the pedestrian pathway or the Imperia Hill lot off of Secor Lane.

We hope that residents are able to make use of these facilities and spend some time outdoors this summer in a safe and healthy way.

Please know that per the Governor’s Executive Order, school playgrounds at Colonial, Siwanoy, Prospect Hill, and Julianne’s remain closed as do Franklin and Ingalls Fields.

Thank you and please enjoy a pleasant weekend.
