SAT, AUG. 1: Concert on the Lawn with Charles Turner & Uptown Swing

Charles Turner & Uptown Swing will perform a live outdoor concert on the Friends Field at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts this Saturday. Led by jazz vocalist and bandleader Charles Turner III and his four-piece rhythm and horn section, the program will feature a range of melodies, from the Harlem Renaissance to today’s swing music. This performance will be recorded and broadcast on Sunday, August 2 at 7pm. Begins at 7pm.

SAT, AUG. 1: USPS Art Project: Gallery Opening Reception

Audiences can visit Pelham Art Center’s gallery for an opening reception for the USPS Art Project this Saturday. The USPS Art Project was started by artist Christina Massey as a call to action for her fellow artists to support the United States Postal Service amidst the COVID-19 crisis. Visitors can view the exhibition in groups no larger than 10 people and all current health guidelines must be followed. A virtual reception will also be held on August 7. Begins at 1pm.

SUN, AUG. 2: Bisa Butler: Live in Conversation

On Sunday, Katonah Museum of Art presents a virtual conversation with KMA Executive Director Michael Gitlitz and artist Bisa Butler. Butler discuss her influences and vibrant multi-layered works that chronicle African American history.  The artist will also describe how narrative and identity inform her works. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will be contributed to the Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc. Begins at 4pm.

WED, AUG. 5: Live Guided Meditation and Community Discussion

Neuberger Museum of Art’s “Wellness Wednesday” series will return on August 5 with meditation instructor Janelle Berger. The live session will begin with a community conversation around a topic, followed by a five-minute guided meditation. Recordings will be posted to the “Wellness Wednesday” web page following the live event. Begins at 1pm via Zoom.

WED, AUG. 5: Livestream Concert With Southern Avenue

Tarrytown Music Hall will present a livestream concert with Grammy Award-nominated Southern Avenue, as part of its weekly Night-In with The Music Hall. The five-piece blues and soul blues band from Memphis, Tennessee performs a unique blend of gospel-tinted R&B vocals, blues-based guitar work and soulful songwriting. Begins at 7pm via the Music Hall’s Facebook page.
