Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the organizers.

As we recognize that we are at the crossroads of social justice in America, the demand for significant change is stronger than ever. Current events have dictated that there is an urgent need to address crime and violence in our communities.

We are writing to invite you to join us on Thursday, August 20, 2020, as we honor families who lost loved ones to gun violence.

As you know, the movement for democracy and justice is sweeping the country – from reforming policing policies to voting rights.

We have to also keep at the forefront the inequities of our educational, economic, employment, and social systems that sow the seeds for poverty to create crime and violence.

As we honor families, we will also bring awareness to the need to do better, be better, loving and wanting for our brothers and sisters what we want for ourselves, while fostering unity in addressing social needs in our communities. It is our responsibility to make our communities a better place to live.

Please join us as we become a “One Westchester” and strive to be the keeper of our brother and sister.
