Giancarla Anzilotti – Aug. 7

Giancarla Anzilotti of Pelham Manor NY passed away on August 7th 2020. She was 88 years old. Born in Bologna, Italy to Giovanni Bacchetta and Sofia Fiorentini Bacchetta, Giancarla was the oldest of three children. She was raised in Bologna where she attended local schools before attending the University of Bologna where she graduated with a PHD in Biology. It was during her studies at the University that she met her husband of 59 years; Dr. Michael Anzilotti. The couple would marry on August 27, 1958 by Archbishop Lercaro of Bologna before moving to the United States to raise their family.

Giancarla and Michael first lived in Niagara Falls before moving to Arthur Avenue and eventually Pelham Manor. Giancarla worked at the Italian Consulate for a few years while raising her three children. In her spare time, she loved to read, knit and travel with her husband. She spent her summers in her favorite place, Marina Romea in Italy where she shared her love of Italy with her children and grandchildren.

Giancarla will be remembered as a loving, sophisticated, caring and compassionate wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook Italian recipes she learned from her mother and passed on to her children.

Giancarla will be missed by her three children; Robert and his wife Lori, Michele, Paul his wife Ann Marie, grandchildren, Christina, Paula, Robert Jr, Julia, Michael and Christopher and great grandchildren, Shawn Jr., Joseph and Dominick. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dr. Michael Anzilotti. A celebration of Giancarla’s life will be held on Tuesday 6-8pm for the immediate family at the Pelham Funeral Home 64 Lincoln Ave Pelham, 914-738-1060. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday,10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help followed by a private entombment at St. Raymond’s Cemetery. A celebration of life was held Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, New York. A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 599 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham Manor, New York, with entombment to follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave., the Bronx, New York.
