School board to get overview of district equity audit, survey results on hybrid learning at Oct. 21 meeting

The Pelham Board of Education will meet at 7pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the Pelham Middle School Gym, 28 Franklin Place, Pelham, NY 10803, and is expected to immediately enter into executive session to discuss matters related to collective negotiations. The Board is expected to reconvene in public session for a regular business meeting at approximately 8:15pm.

Members of our community are once again welcome to join our meetings in person. Accordingly, public comment will now be held at the public meeting. Due to public health concerns, physical in-person attendance by members of the public will be limited to a maximum of 34 individuals. Those who attend in person will have their temperature screened and are required to complete a health screening questionnaire prior to entry. Those in attendance must wear a mask/face covering at all times and maintain physical distance from others. Doors to the Middle School will open at 8pm. The meeting can also be viewed on YouTube live. As a reminder, members of the public may always email the Board of Education with their comments.

At the public meeting, representatives from the NYU Metro Center will present an overview of the District’s Equity Audit. The Board will also discuss the results of the Thoughtexchange survey on Hybrid Learning. Additionally, the Board may review a policy regarding renaming school facilities. This policy is available for review on BoardDocs as part of the meeting agenda which will be available for viewing 24 hours before the meeting.

In addition to Dr. Champ’s Superintendent’s report, the agenda may include updates from each School Board committee, Finances and Facilities, and the three goal areas of the Strategic Plan: Cultural Competence, Authentic Learning, and the Whole Child.
