Rotary Club to host EcoPel speaker at meeting Wednesday

EcoPel Speaker at Rotary Club Zoom meeting Today  (Wednesday, Oct. 21) Open to the Public

Advice on backyard composting as well as information on EcoPel’s grant to to help start a community food scrap recycling program in the Village of Pelham will be the topics of the program at the Rotary Club of the Pelhams’ Zoom meeting today (Wednesday, Oct. 21). The meeting will be open to the public and starts at 12:15pm.

The speaker will be Lindsay Preftakes of EcoPel (The Environmental Coalition of the Pelhams).On Oct. 7, EcoPel’s Board of Directors approved a grant of $3,900 for the establishment of a food scrap recycling drop-off site near the Village of Pelham’s Department of Public Works yard behind Village Hall off Sparks Avenue in 2021. The funds will cover the purchase of large collection toters, a one-year’s supply of compostable liners, signage, and publicity outreach. The Village of Pelham will obtain and distribute to Pelham Village residents, at cost, household starter kits consisting of a countertop pail to collect food scraps, a roll of compostable liners, and a larger storage/transport bin. Residents will bring their food scraps to the drop-off site.
