Three Act Theatre announces its production of A BRAND NEW WORLD. This original musical written by Eric Mark Olson, Leah A. Miles and Andrew David Sotomayor will be making its debut this week at The Clurman Theatre. Directed by Eric Mark Olson, Music Directed by Micah Joel, and choreographed by Jasmine Domfort, A Brand New World is a coming of age tale about an immigrant girl, her family and her new friends, while they face the realities of World War II raging on in the background.

The cast features nine teen actors from Pelham: Athena Woodfin, Meredith Heller, Emma McNulty, Malia McLellan, Emma Spencer, Jack Hopkins, Oliver Tam, Aidan Zusin, and Theo Massie-Vereker.

Set in 1941 New York as the Balbier family is just arriving in America, having escaped Hitler on the last train out of Nuremberg, Germany. The family moves into 1795 Riverside Drive with Uncle Eddie and Aunt Mary, who care for Stephanie like their own daughter, while helping her parents settle in to their new American life. As the backdrop of war rages on, we see her at age 15 making her way in a new school, with a new language, and new friendships to make that are about to change her world forever. Over the course of the next 4 years of the war, we see three best friends come of age and enter the workforce as they send their young men off to war. By 1945, everything has changed, nothing will ever be the same again…who knows what the future holds?!?

A Brand New World will have four performances at Theatre Row – The Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, New York, N.Y. 10803) July 27 through 29 (Friday performance at 8 p.m., Saturday performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m.).

Three Act Theatre (TAT) is a NYC theatre organization whose mission is to nurture a new generation of actors by creating opportunity for artists of all ages to learn from each other – to work side by side in each “act” of their life. With goals of inclusiveness in its population, audience and subject matter, the company has offered full and partial scholarships to its tuition-based intensive training and performance workshops, Summer Immersion Program.

Summer Immersion Program (SIP) is a 3 Week – 17 Session Theatre Training Program that is an immersion into a professional workshop production of a new musical. Students receive Triple Threat Training which is designed to offer the singer/dancer/actor technical training that will prepare them for musical theatre auditions in their future and allow them the room to reach their own next level of mastery.  They also have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside the adult company members in rehearsal and production, staging an original musical at the conclusion of SIP. Auditions are held early in the year for New York and surrounding area students (ages 12-18).

The Friday and Sunday shows are sold out, but tickets are available for both Saturday productions. Tickets for the debut of A BRAND NEW WORLD are $25. Purchase tickets online at:
