Pelham Manor police blotter: Oct. 16-31
Oct. 17
6:05 p.m. — A call was received from a CVS employee reporting that someone had just stolen merchandise from the store. Officers had found a man who matched the description on Boston Post Road. The employee stated that the man had first walked in with an empty blue bag and proceeded to fill it with video games. When the man attempted to leave the store, the security alarm went off and the employee asked if he would like to pay for the items. The man replied no and continued to exit the store, passing all points of sale. After the suspect was confirmed, he was arrested and transported to the police station. Upon arrival, he was searched and an officer discovered a glass pipe containing burnt, white, powdery residue which was believed to be crack cocaine. The male party was later charged with multiple warrants including false personation, larceny, and criminal possession of controlled substances. He appeared in Pelham Town Court for arraignment and was due back in Pelham court on the 22nd of October. All evidence was placed in an evidence locker and the merchandise was returned to the store.
Oct. 21
4:45 p.m. — A suspicious person was reported on Peace Street. The person was described as a Hispanic male around 25 years old wearing a backpack, black hat, and blue mask. The caller stated that while he was walking, he observed the man standing behind a tree. When the caller turned around, the man took off on his bike.
Oct. 22
5:15 p.m. — A report of a passed person was filed at the above time and date. Upon arrival, a woman reported that her husband who had been under care had passed away at home. An officer observed the deceased in their bed and reported that there was no evidence of foul play. Medics arrived and the man was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m.
Oct. 24
A call was received from an NYPD operator reporting a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a person who stated that they located the vehicle, which belonged to his girlfriend. They confirmed she was the owner and the vehicle was apparently abandoned in a parking lot three weeks prior. The owner stated that they were only able to locate the vehicle due to a letter she received from Rockstar Auto World that her vehicle was in default because of nonpayment. She attempted to contact the dealership at which her vehicle was supposedly located to find there was no record of her vehicle being there. A report of the stolen vehicle was filed.
Oct. 31
7:15 p.m. — A black Mercedes Benz was pulled over after driving recklessly and running a stoplight without a license plate. The officer asked if the driver if they knew why they were being stopped and he responded, “Ya, I jumped the light.” The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The defendant was removed from the vehicle and another officer helped conduct a search. In the center of the front seat armrest, 6.1 grams of marijuana was located along with rolling papers. The defendant was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and the vehicle was impounded. The defendant was transported to the Pelham Manor Police Department where he was processed and released on his own recognizance. Upon his release, he was issued a traffic and appearance ticket for Pelham Town Court on November 19th.
