Pelham police:
Much of the region will likely receive 8-12” of snow with the potential for 12-18” and strong gale winds up to 55 mph creating blizzard conditions. These conditions can cause trees and power lines to come down resulting in electric service interruptions. The Pelham Police Department will have a Con-Edison municipal liaison working directly with them throughout the storm.
Please avoid all unnecessary travel to allow the DPW to clear roadways. Travel will be difficult Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with visibility at one-quarter mile or less at times.
In the event of life or property threatening emergencies, dial 911 or call the Pelham Police at (914) 738-2000.
To report a power outage contact Con Edison directly at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). Calling Con Edison directly enters your power loss into their computerized database. You can also report outages, view outages map, and check outage status at www.conEd.com
Please review the important safety tips below:
AVOID ALL FALLEN WIRES:
You can’t tell if a power line is energized just by looking at it. Assume all fallen power lines are live and proceed with extreme caution.
Do not drive over fallen wires. Always follow the utility personnel instructions regarding fallen power lines.
If you see a fallen power line, stay at least 30 feet away from it and anything it contacts. The ground around a power line and any objects it contacts may be energized.
Do not attempt to move a fallen power line or anything else in contact with it using an object such as a broom or stick. Even non-conductive materials like wood or cloth can conduct electricity if even slightly wet.
Pelham Manor police:
Residents are asked to keep auto travel to a minimum in order to facilitate plowing operations. In addition to street plowing, the sidewalk plow will be deployed after the storm ends. It will take the full day to complete sidewalk plowing operations.
As a result, the refuse and recycling schedule for the second half of this week will be adjusted to accommodate snow operations and give residents an opportunity to clear a path to their trash cans for collectors. Collection scheduled for Thursday will be done on Friday and Friday’s collection will be done on Saturday.
Please share this information with your neighbors.
Village of Pelham on trash collection:
Due to the major snow storm, garbage and recycling collections scheduled for Thursday, December 17 are suspended. Please see below for the updates in the collection schedule.
New pickup dates:
Thursday: NO PICKUP
Friday: Area A recycling, apartment & commercial recycling and commercial cardboard
Saturday: Area B recycling & apartment & merchant garbage
