For 11 months, East Lincoln Avenue traffic over Hutch will be diverted to one-lane temp bridge
The East Lincoln Avenue Bridge over the Hutchinson River Parkway in Pelham and Mount Vernon will be shut down for 11 months on or about Jan. 25, with cars routed over a temporary bridge that will allow one lane of traffic in each direction, according to a New York State Department of Transportation notice provided by the Village of Pelham.
Traffic lights will enable one direction of traffic to cross the temporary span at a time.
“The bridge closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of the East Lincoln Avenue Bridge as part of an ongoing bridge replacement and rehabilitation project in lower Westchester,” the notice said. “The culvert that carries northbound traffic off of the Hutchinson River Parkway and over the Hutchinson River will also be replaced along with traffic signals on the East Lincoln Avenue Bridge.”
Motorists should slow down and drive responsibly in work zones, where fines for speeding are doubled, the DOT said.
