Fallen telephone pole closes Boston Post Road, causes power outage at parts of Four Corners
A telephone pole fell on Boston Post Road near Dunkin Donuts Friday, causing police and fire trucks to block off a section of the road and divert traffic. The pole was knocked down by a passing truck, said a man who witnessed the event from the Four Corners parking lot. According to the same witness, the fall led to a power outage at CVS.
No one was injured.
An advisory from the Pelham Manor Police Department sent at 2:24 p.m. said “Boston Post Road is shut down in both directions between Pelhamdale Avenue and Fowler Avenue due to wires/poles down.” According to the advisory, there are “possible power outages as well.”
At the time, cars traveling west on Boston Post Road were stopped and some detoured through the Manor Market parking lot, while cars were prevented from traveling east. The Four Corners parking lot was also blocked off.
In a 5:37 p.m. update, Pelham Manor police said “Con Ed continues to work on restoring power and clearing the roadway. There is no ETA on repairs as of this update.”
This is a developing story.
