The library is excited to be hosting an author talk featuring Dan Morain, author of Kamala’s Way, on Tuesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. during Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the special contributions women have made to events in history and in contemporary times.

Kamala’s Way is the first biography of Kamala Harris published since her historic election as the first woman as well as the first person of color to serve as Vice President of the United States. This illuminating biography charts how the daughter of two immigrants in segregated California became one of this country’s most effective power players.

A veteran journalist, Morain has been covering California politics for decades and began writing about Harris in 1994, first at the Los Angeles Times and later at the Sacramento Bee where he was editorial editor. In Kamala’s Way, we see the forces that shape Vice President Harris’s values, from early days in Oakland and Berkeley, to Montreal where she attended high school, through college and law school, and through her rise in politics. Harris was the first woman to serve as the Attorney General of the State of California. Morain paints a vivid picture of Harris’s principles and priorities and the kind of people she brings into her inner circle (but also drops from it).
