Manor board to hold public hearing Monday on zoning change to allow urgent care facilities in BJ’s, Fairway complexes

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor. Speaking at the Jan. 11 village board meeting, Village Manager John Pierpont said Local Law 1 up for a public hearing Monday would amend the B2 zone to allow for urgent care centers in the BJ’s Wholesale Club and Fairway Market shopping complexes. The law would also re-establish the B3 zone, which would be used in the area of Canal Road, the Hutchinson River Parkway and Pelham Parkway. Pierpont said this change would accommodate warehouse and storage facilities not larger than 20,000 square feet as well as a company that installs and maintains dry cleaning equipment. The latter has sought to locate in the area that would be rezoned, Pierpoint said.

Collaboration with the Pelham Public Schools to Address Continuing COVID-19 Challenges and The Possibility of Village Properties As Temporary Outdoor Classrooms

The Village of Pelham Manor continues working to address the challenges COVID-19 poses to all residents, including our children and educators. Earlier this week Mayor Lapey spoke with Superintendent Cheryl Champ and BOE President Jessica DeDomenico. The Mayor also reached out to the Governor’s regional representative requesting that he coordinate with our school district leaders to provide additional guidance and assistance.

At Monday’s Board meeting, the Trustees will discuss additional ways to support the school district, including the possibility of making Village properties available, such as parks, for temporary outdoor classrooms.

The Village remains committed to working on behalf of all residents and advocating at all levels of government.
